Work experience while you study
Work in the US after graduation with Optional Practical Training (OPT).
You can apply to OPT to work in your field for 12 months. If you studied for a STEM-designated degree, you could qualify for the STEM OPT extension. This allows you to work in the US for an additional two years. With STEM OPT, you can work in the US for up to three years.
